 POETRY   TRAVEL

Piera is an anglophone writer and translator from Hong Kong, currently based in Taipei. She has (co-)authored some 20 travel guides for Lonely Planet. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Narrative, Driftwood Press, Shō Poetry Journal and elsewhere. Her translation of a poem by Hong Kong poet PK Leung was one of three Highly Commended entries for the 2024 Stephen Spender Prize. Piera has a BA in literature from Pomona College and an MA in literary and cultural studies from the University of Hong Kong. While at Pomona, she studied prosody and scansion with the late poet Robert Mezey. She believes that if writing is the most disembodied of the arts, travel writing and poetry are the genres that make it less so. This is why she loves both.
